From his maternal side he comes on the third Generation from Hz Malik Hammad RZ, a follower of Imamuna AS.

He was born in Ahmednagar in 1009/1012 Hijri. His Tasmiah Ceremony ‘Bismillah’ took place in the presence of Hz Bandagi Miyan Syed Saadullah RA (son of Hz Miyan Syed Tashreefullah RA and Grandson of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ). As per the recording in Tareekh-e-Sulaimani , Hz Shah Burhanuddin RA received his early instruction (tarbiat) in religious discipleship from Hz Bandagi Miyan Syed Hussain RA son of Hz Bandagi Miran Hz Syed Abdul Hai ‘Roshan Munawwar’ RZ. It is also said; he was also blessed with the companionship of Hz Syed Raje Muhammad RA son of Hz Miyan Syed Saadullah RA.

His Silsila Tarbiath is as follows:

First he was Murid of Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Hussain RA son of Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Abdul Hai ‘Roshan Munawar RZ the Grandson of Imamuna AS. After his Demise he did Ilaqa with Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Zainulabeddin RA son and successor of his Murshid Hz Miran Syed Hussain RA.

His father Hz Miyan Syed Allah Baksh was also a buzurg of high eminence and a spiritual person and received his tarbiat on the hands of Hz Bandagi Miyan Syed Sadullah RA. Hz Miyan Syed Burhanuddin RA received faiz from his father also. When he was 7 years old he was sent to the ‘madarsa’ school of Mullah Allahdad for gaining the external knowledge for the requirement of religious matters. When he was 12 years old his father took him to Hz Miyan Syed Sadullah RA for tarbiath, but Hz Miyan Syed Sadullah RA said, ‘take him to Miran Syed Hussain RZ because, when I (Syed Sadullah RA) and Miyan Syed Yahya RA came to Chacha Bawa (Hz Shihabul Haq RZ) for tarbiath he sent both of us to Hz Roshan Munawwar RZ and got us tarbiath from him’.

On 15th Ramzan 1024H, Hz Miyan Syed Sadullah RA son of Miyan Syed Tashreefullah RA passed away ‘Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi Rajiun’. On 21st Ramzan 1024H, when he was 12 years old his father called him and bestowed on him the Irshadi, and 4 days later i.e on 25th Ramzam 1024H his father also passed away in the Mercy of His Lord, ‘Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi Rajiun’. Within 10 days 2 eminent personalities passed away from this perishing world. After a lapse of six to seven months later his late father’s aunts Bibi Bua Fatah RA and Bibi Ummatullah RA took him to Hz Miran Syed Hussain RA (son of Hz Roshan Munawar RZ) and got his tarbiath done. After the demise of Hz Miran Syed Hussain RA he did ilaqa with his Murshid’s son Hz Miyan Syed Zainulabeddin RA and was in his company.

Hz Miyan Syed Burhanuddin RA was well versed in both the inner and outer knowledge of deen and used his maximum knowledge and life in the propagation of deen through his piety, piousness and pen likewise. It was his habit to present Mehdavia teachings to the common man as well as the scholars, nobles, rulers etc and was always available for anyone for any enquiry and moreover till his demise nobody can stand against him in debate.

For the sake of Propagation ‘Tableegh’ he started his migration ‘Hijrat’ along with his entire family from his Daira situated at Nilanga, he passed through Marathwada in Deccan (South India) crossing North India and atlast reached Farah Mubarak in Afghanistan traveling on foot via Gujarat, Marvad, Dhondar in North India, Narnool in Punjab and Samana, Lahore (Sindh) through Kabul, Balkh, Andkhond, Mazhandran and Herat in Afghanistan. Finally on 7 Ramadhan, 1052 AH, he set foot on the holy land of Farah Mubarak after the Maghrib prayers and paid his respectful homage at Imamuna Hz Syed Muhammad Jaunpuri ‘Mahdi al-Mauood AS mazar (grave). Here at Farah his stay was for about two and half years. In this period he was busy in meeting Ulema and the local people and sometime debating with the learned scholars of Afghanistan and propagating the teachings of Imamuna AS, many accepted and did Tasdiq-e-Mehdi AS on his noble hands.

Then once again he resumed his onward journey from Farah and went to Makkah Mukarramah and Madina Munawwara on foot via Russia, Shiraz (in Persia) and Basra (in Iraq). After performing Haj at Makkah he went to pay respects at Prophet Muhammad SAS tomb at Madina and here he had the honor to kiss the grave of the Noble Prophet SAS, he came back to Farah by the same route. After staying in Farah for 2 months he once again started migration towards his home land India and in the way he had to stay in the Fort of Pas by the invitation of his disciples Kamyab Khan and Pardol Khan, Here he stayed for about 4 to 5 months, in the meantime here his wife and son passed away. For their burial near the Mousoleum of Imam Mehdi AS at Farah he once again traveled back to Farah through Khandahar.

Once again he settled down at Farah and it is said that here he married again and through this marriage he had 2 daughters, it is said, later these daughters were married in the Mehdavia families of Farah Mubarak. During his stay, there use to be lot of Mehdavis settled in and around the province of Farah and Rach and this place was seen as a flourishing Mehdavia Locality, people flocked to him with enquiries of deen and many had the honor of doing tasdiq on his noble hands. On 26th Ziqada 1062 Hijri, approximately 10 years after migration this noble personality passed away in the mercy of His Lord and was laid to eternal rest in the feet of Imamuna Mehdi AS just outside the Mousoleum ‘Payan’ of Imamuna Mehdi AS inside the precincts of the boundary.

Hz Miyan Syed Burhanuddin RA started writing from the young age of 30 years and compeleted his first book ‘Dalail al-Mubin ala Sabil il-Muminin, after completion he placed this book in front of his elders i.e, Hz Miyan Syed Raje Mohammed RA son of Hz Miyan Syed Sadullah RA (the grandson of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ) and Hz Bandagi Malik Yusuf RA grandson of Hz Malik Hammad RZ, he sincerely implored with them to check his work and to keep what ever is correct and to strike off which is incorrect in the book, after going through the book the elders expressed their happiness and said, Allah has given you “ilm-e-Laduni” and whatever you wrote is correct, moreover they said, “O Miyan Burhanuddin, write a book on the Proof of Imam Mehdi AS and also on the life incidents of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ, Allah almighty will help you in this noble cause and will be a source of blessings and rewards on you”.

It is said that Hz Shah Burhanuddin RA met Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Shah Qasim Muhtehdi Groh RA in the Daira of Hz Miyan Syed Esa RA son of Hz Khatim-e-Kar RA and showed his writings to Hz Shah Qasim RA and enquired about their truthfulness. Hz Shah Qasim RA said, it is exactly what I heard from my Grand mother, and my father’s Aunt.

Once Hz Shah Burhanuddin RA enquired with Hz Shah Qasim RA regarding matters of faith. In response, here one can see the nobleness and humbleness ‘Nesthi’ of Hz Shah Qasim RA. He said, ‘You are a farzand-e-Bandagi Miyan RZ and I am a servant ‘Ghulam-e-Bandagi Miyan RZ’. Hz Shah Qasim RA use to write letters of appreciation supporting him from time to time, he wrote about 13 letters, the text of a letter is as follows:

“I am pleased from you, seek help and strength from Allah and stick with your work and pray in the favor of this Servant (i.e Hz Shah Qasim RZ)”. Some people complaint about you, I told them, ‘I have met him, he is a descendent of Bandagi Miyan Syed Shahabuddin ‘Shahabul Haq’ RZ and he (Hz Shah Burhanuddin RA) is not as you are saying”.

In his lifetime, Hz Shah Burhanuddin RA is said to have written over three hundred books, including ‘Shawahid al-Vilayat”, “Hadiqat al-Haqaiq, Haqiqat al-Daqaiq’, and others. The latter book is voluminous and commonly called Daftar-e-Awal and Daftar-e-Duam. ‘Shawahid al-Vilayat’ was written in 1052 AH (The complete title is ‘Shawahid al-wilayat al-muhammadiya ‘ala qawa ‘ad al-hujjat al-mahdawiya). Hujjat al-Mateen’ was also written by him.

Hardly 5 percent of his books i.e fifteen (15) out of the three hundred (300) books, he wrote have so far been published. Allah knows best about the condition of his remaining unpublished material. It is also said that his books were kept in his library at Farah Mubarak.

But after his demise on 26th Ziqad 1062H, until now centuries passed away and his work might have also got scattered and Allah only knows the where abouts and the conditions of his unpublished work.
