Hazrat Syed Hussain Balkhi, who was said to be in his mid nineties, was a God fearing person and even before performing Tark-e-Duniya he spent much of his time in Zikr and prayers. He was very soft-spoken, kind hearted and courteous. He hails from Mussadiqabad which is also known as Eppalguda in Medak District of Andhra Pradesh. He graduated from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1944 and became the first Mahdavi from Eppalguda, a village inhabited mostly by Mahdavees.

He held many responsible government positions, for several years he was Lecturer at Co-operative Training Centre Rajendernagar, Hyderabad, he became Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies in the Mysore State. He was Rural Credit-Officer in the Reserve Bank of India, Bombay and he was also specially deputed as Managing Secretary, Karnataka State Apex Bank, Bangalore.

In his early years he became the a disciple (Mureed) of  Peer wo Murshid Asad-ul-Ulema Hazrat Maulana Abusayeed Syed Mahmood , Murshid Miyan SahabRH and was very close to him and benefited from spritiual teachings of his Murshid.  After the demise of his Murshid he became Mureed of his Murshid’s son and successor Peer wo Murshid Hazrat Maulana Syed Abdul Hai, Hafiz Miyan Sahab-IIRH. After retirement he renounced the world and devoted his full time in the pursuit of the Almighty.

Hazrat Balkhi was involved in many welfare activities of the Mahdavia community. He was one of the founders of the Anjuman-e-Mahdavia, Bangalore. He was responsible for the construction of a few rooms to provide accommodation facility for the pilgrims visiting the Daira-e-Bangi Miyan Shah-e-DilawarRZ at Borekheda in Jalgaon District of the Maharashtra State.

Like a true Mahdavi he had a special concern for the younger generation of Mahdavis who do not know Urdu and who do not know much about the life and teachings of Imamuna Hazrat Syed Muhammad Medhi Al-Ma’ud Alaihissalaam- the Promised Mehdi. Hence he felt the need for writing a comprehensive biography in English on the life of Imamuna MehdiAHS “The Mahdi MaudAHS” in 1989 which happens to be the first English Biography of The Promised Mehdi. He also wrote a biography of Harat Bandagi Miyan Shah-e-DilawarRZ which was published by Anjuman-e-Dairatul Islam, Musheerabad, Hyderabad, in the year 1986.
